It is our pleasure to invite you to the International Week 2020  hosted by the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University or Rijeka which will take place from 4th to 8th May 2020 in Opatija, Croatia

This event aims to bring together students, teaching and training staff from our faculty and partner institutions in order to strengthen international networks and exchange ideas. It will enhance international collaboration providing the participants an opportunity to meet and present their research within any topic related to economy, business and tourism.

We are using this opportunity to invite all the participants to the 25th Biennial International Congress “TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY: TRENDS AND CHALLENGES” hosted by the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University of Rijeka which will be held in the city of Opatija from 4th to 6th May 2020.  Since tourism and hospitality industry cross over and take part in multiple areas and disciplines, authors are welcome to submit a paper from a diverse range of topics, perspectives and disciplines. The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management is situated in the village of Ika about ten minutes from the town of Opatija. We are looking forward to welcoming scientists and researchers to the city of Opatija from May 4 - 6, 2020 for the 25th Biennial International Congress Tourism & Hospitality Industry, hosted by The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija, University of Rijeka.

THI2020 - call for papers

THI2020 is a multidisciplinary congress with a long tradition bringing together policymakers, industry and academics to lay the groundwork and identify innovative solutions for the development of tourism.  The aim is to promote a collaborative environment between the academic and tourism community in search of improvement and attractiveness of tourism business. Tourism and the hotel industry are simultaneously very delicate and flexible parts of national and worldwide economic systems. Plurality of social, economic, technological, natural, political and other changes have huge effect on their adaptation and development. Consequently, the working title of our congress includes variety of aspects to be discussed: TRENDS AND CHALLENGES. We invite scientists and researchers to share their newest research, results and ideas with us and their fellow researchers and practitioners. Abstract submission deadline has been extended until February 3, 2020.

Within this congress we announce the presentations on best practices and innovations as well as panel discussions held by distinguished Croatian hoteliers and tourism professionals that will be included in a special part named A Hotel house (Hotelska kuća). This year, essential part of our A Hotel house is given to the inclusion of a direct dialogue with Croatian hoteliers and it will represent a symbiosis of science and profession through examples of good practice.

International teaching and administrative staff are invited for the purpose of teaching/training through Erasmus+, CEEPUS and other mobility programs to take part at International week at FTHM to be held from May 4-8, 2020 in Opatija. applications for ERASMUS+ or CEEPUS student mobility for the summer semester of the academic year 2019/2020 at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija are officially open! We warmly invite you to apply.

Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management is a highly respected institution of higher education for tourism, hospitality industry and sustainable development in the Republic of Croatia and in the wider region. As part of the University of Rijeka, our Faculty offers various courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. List of all available courses can be found here.

One of the things we’re most proud of is the fact that in the winter semester of 2019/2020 academic year, our Faculty hosts the largest number of international students of the whole University, 39 of them. Studying at our Faculty, you’ll gain new insights from the area of Business Economics or Sustainable Development in Tourism and Hospitality and finally, you’ll get the chance to study at the faculty with the best view in the world (no words are necessary…just Google our position :))!

On October 2 2019, at the building of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the International Mobility Office of the University of Rijeka organized an Erasmus Welcome Day for incoming Erasmus students who have come to study at our University. This is the ninth consecutive year that the University of Rijeka is hosting incoming students.

In the winter semester 2019/2020, 143 Erasmus student will study at 11 constituents of the University of Rijeka. We are very proud that the largest number of international students, 39 of them, are studdying at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The Faculty has recognised the importance of internationalisation of higher education institutions and special attention is paid to student mobility. This year 39 international students will spend one semester at our institution in the winter semester 2019/2020. Erasmus and Ceepus students from Romania, Spain, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Greece, Germany, G. Britain, Finland, Italy, Latvia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Slovakia, Hungary, Malta, Poland, etc. are going to attend courses offered to student on English languages. Faculty traditionally on the first day of semester organised for international students Welcome Day, where students get detailed information on different aspects of living in this region and studying at FMTU, University of Rijeka.
