Fakultet za menadžment u turizmu i ugostiteljstvu

The Faculty is actively involved in scientific research and expert activities in the scientific area of social sciences, scientific field of economics, as well as in other related scientific areas and fields.

Some of the Faculty's main activities are:

- conducting research on current theoretical and practical economic problems; conducting scientific research and expert studies, projects, reports, analyses, counselling, providing R&D services, providing consulting services for the needs of the economy, reviewin and auditing projects

- developing research projects with foreign institutions within the framework of international cooperation; the teaching staff conduct individual research work, the results of which are published in the Faculty's anthologies, journals, books and other publications

- organizing national and international scientific and professional symposia, consellings, seminars, congresses, conferences and other scientific assemblies

- structuring and implementing a vocational lifelong learning programme, organizing courses and other forms of supplementary education as well as the development of young researchers and scientists

R&D projects which have been approved and financed by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and which are currently underway at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija:

• Models and quality standards of business excellence for the hotel industry (Project manager:  prof. Ivanka Avelini Holjevac, Ph.D.)
• Renewable energy sources for eco-hotels and eco-tourist destinations (Project manager: prof. Branko Blažević, Ph.D.)
• Quality models and public-private partnerships in Croatian tourism (Project manager: prof. Vinka Cetinski, Ph.D.)
• Managing logistic processes in tourist destinations (Project manager: prof. Edna Mrnjavac, Ph.D.)
• Knowledge and staff management in tourism as a characteristic of Croatian tourism (Project manager: prof. Vidoje Vujić, Ph.D.)
